ERIC DE KOLB, A Massive Gold Ring

USA (c1960) A Substantial 14k yellow gold ring by artist Eric De Kolb (b.Baron Eric de Kolb-Wartenberrg, Vienna Austria 1916 d.New York City 2001). The 1 1/2″ x 1″ yellow gold doorknocker ring in the shape of a Grotesque. De Kolb,a surrealistic artist,worked in a multiple of disciplines. He is known as a painter, sculptor, jeweler, fashion designer,furniture designer commercial artist and package designer. A virtual artist of all trades, De Kolb is best known for his work based on ancient artifacts. He produced miniature sculpture as well as jewelry supported by this idea, most notably working for the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a jewelry designer to recreate ancient jewelry from the collection. He lived most of his adult life split between NYC and Capri, no doubt the latter the inspiration for this fabulous ring. Great for a man or a women. Serious, Silly and Sexy.
