Modernist Gold and Keshi Pearl and Diamond Convertible Brooch Necklace, 1960s

$3500

Mid century modern choker necklace featuring an abstract gold plaque. The 1 1/2" gold abstract designed pendant/brooch enhanced with 8 round white diamonds on a detachable 13 1/2 twisted 9-strand Keshi pearl necklace. This three- dimensional ,highly textured brooch exhibits an array of the goldsmiths techniques. Casting, sheet gold, engraving and granulation enrich the design of this luscious piece of wearable sculpture. Keshi Pearls, made up entirely of nacre, are a close relative to the much desired natural pearl. They are known for their warmth and flattering luster. The juxtaposition of the baroque pearl torsade with the brutalist jewel is a stunning combination. Elegant and Unique. Signed with an unidentified makers mark. 18ct .( see photos)
