Vintage 70's gold and amethyst crystal sliced pendant. The 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" Amethyst crystal mounted on a 14k stylized floral shaped wire suspended from a 1/2" wire bale. A lovely pale amethyst crystal. This type of jewelry, which has made a comeback in the last few years was originally all the rage in the 60's and 70's. Inspired by the love of all things organic, the Hippie culture and a "Youthquake", jewelry became wearable and interesting with an emphasis on the unique. Artist-jewelers like Jean Vendome loved this stone, but it didn't escape the attention of the major jewelers.. we have a fabulous pair of Chaumet earrings in our own collection supporting similar Amethyst crystals. This one is probably of American origin. Prettily made as evidenced by the detail to the back of the piece. The wide bale allows it to slip easily onto a neckwire, chain or piece of leather, as we show it here. Not too big, very flattering color on. One of A Kind.
